Burn Season

Below are the statewide Burn Seasons dates, however due to the variable nature of weather conditions in the Washington County area, those time frames may be expanded or reduced.  Burn permit access is adjusted on a daily basis as determined by air quality (clearing index) and your local Fire Chiefs.

Spring Burn Season is March 1st through May 30th (for the incorporated areas of the county)

Fall Burn season is September 15th through November 15th (for the incorporated areas of the county)  and for unincorporated areas fall burn season is November 1st through November 15th

NOTE: Burn permits will not be allowed whenever the National Weather Service reports that the air clearing index is below 500 (Available Here) or has issued a red flag warning. It is a violation of state and federal law if you choose to burn during these restrictions.

ALL OTHER AREAS NOT LISTED ABOVE MUST OBTAIN A "WRITTEN" PERMIT WITH AN "AUTHORIZATION NUMBER" FROM THEIR LOCAL FIRE AUTHORITY BEFORE AN ONLINE SUBMISSION CAN BE ENTERED. FAILURE TO DO SO IS A VIOLATION OF STATE LAW AND YOU WILL BE CITED FOR BURNING WITHOUT PERMISSION:
