Thank you for visiting the Washington City Fire Department website. The Fire Department is a division of the Washington City Public Safety Deparment.

The Fire Department was Established in 1972 with a single brush truck, 14 volunteers, and little or no training the department has grown into a highly trained combination department(Fire and EMS). We have 5 fulltime employees and 35 paid call volunteers with advanced equipment. Our area of responsiblity is one of the fastest growing cities in the country with a population of 8500 in 2000 to currently over 20,000. Our coverage area consists of just under 50 square miles of mixed terrrain, residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and a section of a major interstate.

Our highest priority is serving our citizens and their guests by providing fire protection and emergency medical services. We currently are an Intermediate Emergency Medical Service non-transporting agency. Please take a moment to browse the website to learn more about your Fire Department.
