Please Be Mindful Of Your Pets

Based on the dramatic growth of our community in recent years, along with the increase of pet owners, the following information is provided for your reference. Washington City Rules and Regulations Ordinance 6-5-1 specifically prohibits domestic animals of any kind in our public parks.  Specific areas of concern are the high volume of dogs.  Parks & Recreation staff are witnessing an increased number of dogs in our parks, cemetery, athletic fields, and along our trail systems at an alarming rate.  This poses a significant challenge to our staff when trying to maintain a clean and inviting environment at each location.  The safety of each person, as well as the maintenance and cleanliness of our recreation venues, are top priority. In an effort to meet the needs of our community members, Washington City provides and operates the Dog Town Dog Park as a wonderful option for you.  This park is located at 450 South 200 East, and is equipped with restrooms, playground equipment, and a covered pavilion.  The park also offers two separate dog areas, as well as a water feature where your pets can cool off during this hot, dry time of year.  Regarding trail use, dogs should always be leashed, and pet waste is the responsibility of each owner.Washington City Parks & Recreation encourages all dog and pet owners to be responsible.  We ask for your support and compliance of this city ordinance.  Thank you!
