Mayor’s Message

Without Challenges There Is No Achievement

Looking out my window today, I saw something that has not occurred here very often. Rain. That blessed moisture that replenishes our water supply’s. We can certainly use more of it. May I remind you to conserve this valuable resource where you can, around your homes, gardens, and lawns.

A great friend of mine recently emailed me a wonderful thought by Ralph Waldo Emerson. This friend and I have not kept in touch as much as we probably should have over the years. Do you have one of those friends? He used to tell me all the time that without challenges there is no achievement. Good thought, don’t you think?

Ok, back to Emerson. He said,” To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children. To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others. To leave the world a bit better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition. To know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”

Any good you can do, do it now. Do not delay it or put it off until tomorrow. You may never get another chance. Some people pursue happiness.......

Other people create it.....

See you next month.
