 Humble Service Makes A Difference

My sincere thanks to all those who made this past Cotton Days Celebration one of the best ever. Kudos to our Chairpersons; Mike Jensen and Sherri Staheli for putting together a great team that truly put on an outstanding week of events. There were many of you from the community and city staff that put in hours of labor to make all the events fun and enjoyable to attend. For me our celebration demonstrated how classy all of you are who dedicated your time and talents to allow all of us to enjoy the activities. Thanks again. Watching and participating in event such as this often reminds me of how important it is that we remember this life isn’t about us and what we get. It is all about how we find ways to serve others and what we can give.

My thoughts to share with you is; I believe that true happiness comes into our lives as we resolve to dedicate a part of our time, to help those in distress and need, without any consideration of reward or recompense. Your helping hands can lift those out of the mire of distress. Your steady voice can calm the stormy sea and provide encouragement to someone who may want to give up. Your skills can change lives, bring hope, comfort the weary, build others and end the cankering poison of selfishness. Making a difference in your own life or in someone else’s is not about what you know, or even who you know. It’s about what you are that really counts...  Are you the one to make a difference?
