The Angel Tree Project

 Help Those In Need

The Lake foundation was started in loving Memory of Kurtis Lake. Kurtis was in the Fire service for 26 years and a Captain for 17 of those years. Kurtis’s time living in Santa Clara, Utah he was know as Mr. Griswald, he would wrap his family home with as many Christmas lights as possible to see how high he could get the power bill to be. Once the BIG power bill would arrive Kurtis and his Family would match the amount on the power bill and go spend it on a family in need, for Christmas. 12/12/2014 Just a normal day like any other day, in fact one of the most beautiful blue sky, light breeze kinda days then at 12:08 pm Fire and Ems crews were paged out on a 31 Delta 50 Year old Male fainting and unconscious. The Reporting Party stated he was out doing yard work at a clients house when he suddenly collapsed. His Daughter responded to the call without any idea it was her dad. Fire and Ems crews were able to transport him to the hospital where the Emergency Room Staff proceeded to continue CPR. After 50 Minutes of full CPR the doctor had to ask Kurtis Lake’s Daughter Krystle who was only 22 years old at the time what she wanted to do. Krystle looked at the monitor, and there had been no sign of change the whole time in the ER so she looked at the doctor and said “if there has been no change then there is nothing we can do, go ahead and call it.” At 12:51 pm everything Changed, Krystle had to say goodbye to her best friend, her big shadow, her adventure buddy, and her dad all at the same time. Two Days after Krystle received so much love, care, and support she was inspired to once again follow in her father's footsteps and created The Angel Tree Project. The first year we helped 2 families the next year 4 families and the following year 12 families. Each family is contacted and asked what do they all need, want, and what can we do to help them. Angels are placed on Christmas trees Throughout the State, then Delivered by your local Fire, Ems, and Police Crews with Full lights and sirens along with Santa Riding Shotgun. Each family receives food gift cards, a barrel full of food and endless heart felt gifts. This is a wonderful Family Tradition That Krystle Lake would like to invite you to be apart of!!! If you have any questions please contact her directly.
