A Roar of Thanks

The Washington Lions Club has already begun community service projects post-pandemic in 2021! And we give a big Roar of Thanks to the members of the community who supported those early projects!! Serving each other builds our community—thank you! First was the Adopt-A-Highway that cleared litter from a northern portion of the Washington Parkway. Community members, boys and leaders of Scout Troop #435 and Lions gave of their time and energy to improve the community. Two pickup loads of trash were taken to the dump and five large piles of garbage bags were later picked up by the Public Works division that also supported and assisted the project. In addition to litter of all kinds, volunteers found and properly disposed of a couch and a mattress found alongside the road. Join us this fall when we again pick up trash along that road.

The second service project was a very successful and sweet Easter Candy Dash according to the kids

who were there. The turnout proves our community has withstood the restrictions of the last year and is ready to join together for fun and service.

And our next project is the Lions Club Cotton Days Breakfast at Veteran’s Park, Saturday, May 8! Starting at 7 a.m., you can enjoy a delicious breakfast (cash only, please), help raise funds for other community service projects, and be ready for the many other Cotton Day activities of the day.
