Jason Williams Appointed As Police Chief

Last month Washington City appointed Jason Williams as the new Police Chief. Jason Williams has been in public safety for 18 years. By serving and protecting Washington City he has built a rapport with the community that is invaluable in working on issues that may arise in the future. He has a passion for being in law enforcement and when asked why he started in this line of work Chief Williams said “I have always admired the officers that would come into the schools and teach about safety when I was young. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a police officer because of the positive experience and influence the officers had. I feel very blessed to be where I am today. I’m excited to wear this uniform and represent our community and profession with pride.” He will continue to provide the level of service that has become expected by the community. Chief Williams was asked the following questions:

What is the immediate goal for the Police Department?

 “With the current rate that we are growing it’s our goal to look at all areas that we have an influence on and identify how we can improve our level of service. I want to be able to maintain our partnership with the community and work together to resolve any issues.”

What is the first challenge you have to work through?

“The first challenge that I might face is establishing my new role as the chief. I’ll need to let go of some of the other responsibilities that I have been doing and focus on the continued overall development and progression of the department.”

What are you looking forward to?

“I am excited about our future. We are a young department that will continue to enhance the quality of life and getting involved with our citizens to problem solve. We will continue to build upon our patrol and investigation divisions and establish some specialty assignments that can address specific needs of the community.”

Chief Williams has had many experiences over the years that will help as he leads the Washington City Police Department, the community can rest assured that they are in good hands.
