Jason Williams New Washington City Police Chief

WASHINGTON CITY, UTAH-Washington City is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Williams as the new police chief to replace retiring Chief Jim Keith, effective April 1. Jim Keith, who established the police department and served as its chief for 14 years announced his retirement earlier this year. An open-recruitment process was conducted, and the city received over sixty applications from all across the country. Jason Williams, who is serving as the lieutenant of the Washington City Police Department was the only internal applicant. “We received and interviewed some wonderful applicants,” states Ken Neilson, Washington City Mayor, “It is wonderfully satisfying to know that Jason competes with the very best in his profession.” Mayor Neilson continues by saying “Jason’s experience with our department and his commitment to Washington City will ensure that our department will maintain the great reputation that was established by Chief Jim Keith.” Mr. Williams began his law enforcement career with the Washington County Sheriff’s office and was hired by Washington City in 2007 as a patrol officer. He was appointed as lieutenant-the departments second highest officer-approximately three years ago.
