Pioneer Day

Annual 24th of July Celebration

**(Note: This celebration is not put on by Washington City)

On Tuesday, July 24th, make plans on celebrating Pioneer Day in Washington City! This year’s celebration will be a throwback to years gone by. “With the passing of Rick Neilson and his determination to make the 24 th of July a celebration of the Pioneer Spirit, the Days of 47—Dixie, is busy reorganizing. To continue on with Rick’s legacy, there will be a July 24th celebration in Washington City,” states Michael D. Eaton, serving as this year’s chairman. “We are getting things ready to really have an outstanding celebration!” The Lion’s Club will continue with their breakfast in the park, with a flag raising at 7:00 am. The parade will begin at 9:00 am., followed by games, activities, kids races, Bingo, booths, and food vendors. There will be fireworks that evening sponsored by the city. As always there will be entertainment in the gazebo. Mark your calendars to spend the 24th of July in Washington. We are looking for groups, or individuals desiring to show off their talents to contact Bonnie Vorhies, bonnievorheirs64@icloud.com. If you want to enter the parade, contact Julie Jorgensen at jules84780@gmail.com. We are asking for non-commercial entries only. We would like to see this become a city wide celebration and encourage all religious organizations and any others who desire to pay tribute to the founding of this great state to enter our parade and help with operating the game booths. If desiring to help, contact Michael D. Eaton at duker1953@outlook.com.
