Mayor’s Message

Spring Into Parks

Spring is almost here, and what better way to enjoy warming temperatures than with some exciting new additions to our city! I’m thrilled to announce that construction has begun on Quentin’s Corner, a temporary food truck park downtown, and on an expansion of the very popular Dog Town Park. Additionally, construction is nearing completion of Sunrise Valley Park, a beautiful new recreation area in a rapidly growing residential neighborhood.

Quentin’s Corner will be located at the intersection of Main Street and Telegraph, at the former location of Quentin and Gwendolyn Nisson’s home and hardware store. When complete, this temporary food truck park will offer a variety of food options for residents to enjoy, making it the perfect spot for a quick lunch or a casual dinner. The park will offer a picnic area with tables and a grassy area for blankets. With a mix of local food trucks anticipated, Quentin’s Corner is sure to spark activity downtown and become a favorite spot for residents and visitors alike.

Dog Town Park has been a favorite among residents with four-legged friends since it was built, and it’s quite possibly our most used park. The addition will double its size to better accommodate both large and small breeds. This expansion will provide more space for dogs to run, play, and socialize, while owners will have the option to watch and stay cool under new shaded picnic areas. The park design will also include sections of block wall around the perimeter. As the famous dog enthusiast, Cesar Millan, once said, “Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen.” So, let’s take our dogs to Dog Town Park and listen to what they have to say about it!

Sunrise Valley Park, located on Country Way, will be the perfect place for residents to get some fresh air and enjoy the outdoors. With pickleball courts, a pavilion area, a basketball court, and a trail that provides great access to the Virgin River Trail system, this park is sure to be a popular spot for families, friends, and active individuals. Whether you’re looking for a place to play pickleball, relax with a book, or take a walk along the river bank, Sunrise Valley Park will be the place.

I’m excited to welcome these new additions to our community and hope that they will bring residents together and provide more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and experience some of the great things Washington City has to offer. I encourage everyone to come out and experience these new amenities, and I look forward to seeing you at Quentin’s Corner, the expanded Dog Town Park, and the new Sunrise Valley Park soon!
