Watch Out For Scams

The Washington City Police Department wants to caution the community about some telephone scams. It is no surprise that we have trolls in society that want to capitalize on another person’s hardship. This was the case during the Katrina Hurricanes and it’s prevalent now with the amount of attention that law enforcement is getting in the media. We have received information that our citizens are receiving phone calls from charity groups asking for donations that will help their local law enforcement. The Washington City Police Department has not now or in the past received any financial donations or equipment from these groups that are calling and claiming as such. If you are inclined to make a donation, then please do your homework first. If you want to be certain that your donation will help your police department, then you can make a donation to our established 501c3 at the Utility Office. These monies are used to help with equipment in our K9 program or other needs directly associated with Washington City Police. We also have a Police Benevolent Fund that you can contribute to. These funds help officers in need when tragedy or emergencies happen. These two ways are 100% guaranteed that your donation will be used in a positive manner that will impact your police department and the services provided. Thank you for the love and support we feel everyday. We are grateful for the partnership we have with our citizens and the opportunity to serve you.
