Summer Energy Tips

With the hot Summer temperatures here the rise in energy demands from your air conditioner, fans, and other cooling devices increases greatly. This summer is predicted to be above average temperatures in most locations across the United States which means the entire energy grid will be taxed. Washington City has seen a significant population increase over the last few years, which has put a greater demand on our own energy supply. While we do our part to prepare and keep the energy costs low, every resident can help by reducing their individual load. Follow these simple suggestions to help reduce your energy demand and keep a little more cash in your pocket!

  • Avoid using major appliances, like your clothes dryer or oven, during the hottest times of the day
  • Use a programmable thermostat and turn it up a few degrees when you are not at home
  • Keep your blinds closed especially on windows facing the hot Summer sun
  • Unplug any electronics that are not use
  • Have your A/C unit serviced and change your air filters regularly
