Gardening Tips

1. To prevent winter damage to roses, put mulch about 6 inches deep around the stems after the ground has cooled off.

2. Plant ground covers before October 15th.

3.Water lawn 1” per week.

4. Control: box elder bugs.

6. To protect roses from snowfall/frost prune overly long rose canes by half.

7. Fertilize lawn, fall feeding is the most important of the year.

8. Pansies do best planted in the fall.

9. After killing front, remove dead plant and debris from annual and vegetable beds.

10. Lower pond plants deep in the water, below freeze line.

11.Mow lawn short for winter.

12. Do not store bruised fruit.

13. Let sprinkler clock run through a full cycle after water is shut off.

14. Store summer flowering bulbs in a cool dry place.
