Important Notice About Your Utility Billing

Effective July 1, 2017, based on Washington City code section 7-8-5, the Washington City Utilities office will be enforcing our involuntary disconnect (shut off) policy and procedure. The procedure is: All bills must be paid to $0.00 by the due date which is the 20th day of each month. If your bill is not paid in full by the due date you will be given a 5 day grace period before any late penalties will be assessed. If the bill is not paid in full, including any late fees, by the end of that 5 day grace period a letter will be sent to your listed mailing address informing you that you have ten (10) days to pay the account in full or to request a hearing to dispute the charges.

If the account is not paid to a $0.00 balance by the end of that 10 day period in the letter the utilities service will be shut off. To have the utilities service reconnected after shut off the outstanding balance on the account MUST be paid in full including any late fees plus a $50 reconnect fee.  After July 1, 2017 the Washington City Utilities office will NO LONGER  carry any active utilities accounts with a past due balance. Exceptions may be granted in extreme circumstances.
