Venue

Staheli Family Farm located at 3400 Washington Field Rd., Washington, Utah 84780 is the venue for half-marathon shuttle pick-up, Ralph’s Kids Fun Run and 5K start and finish lines, and half-marathon finish line.

The Half-Marathon start line is located on Old Highway 91 and 6300 W in Hurricane. Participants MUST park at Staheli Family Farm and ride shuttles to the start line.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

Double Dare

Double Dare participants will begin their day at Staheli Family Farm between 6:00am-7:00am. They will run the half-marathon course in reverse to 6300 W on Old Hwy 91 in Hurricane (Half Marathon Starting Line). For equipment requirements, start procedure and information regarding self-support on the trip to Half Marathon Starting Line, click HERE. Dare participants should plan to arrive at Half Marathon start line by 8:55am and will start their return trip to Staheli Family Farm with all other half-marathon participants at 9:00am. See below for a description of the course. All DD participants will have access to an RV (courtesy of Camping World) that they may store their personal belongings, refreshments will also be provided inside that RV.

Half-Marathon

The half-marathon is a beautiful point-to-point course starting just North of Coral Canyon. The start is located on Old Highway 91 and 6300 W in Hurricane. Runners will head west and turn Right on Mile 2.25 onto Foothills Drive and descend into the Coral Canyon subdivision crossing under SR-9 to Coral Canyon Bvld. Runners will leave Coral Canyon at approximately Mile 5.8 and cross Telegraph St. and take a Right Turn on Landfill Rd. Runners will continue southeast on Landfill Rd. After approximately .7 miles on Landfill Rd, runners will turn right onto a dirt trail that will bring them to the paved trailhead in Cottonwood trail. At this point runners will enjoy a FAST and steep descent to the Virgin River. At approximately Mile 8.5 runners will turn right headed toward the newly-opened Virgin River Boardwalk and Sullivan Soccer Park. Runners will remain on trail exiting Sullivan Soccer Park and take a left onto Washington Fields Rd/300 East headed east, southeast. At approximately Mile 11.4 runners will take a left-hand turn onto Majestic Dr. From here runners will turn Right onto Camino Real and continue and take a Right onto 3650 S. Runners will take a right-hand turn on Washington Fields Rd traveling north. Finishers will turn right into Staheli Family Farm and enter the finish line. We will be adding an additional Aid station for 2020.

The majority of the half-marathon course is on asphalt and paved running trails. There is one short area of dirt and gravel between LandFill Rd. and the Cottonwood Trail.

5K

5K runners will start at Staheli Family Farm and turn left on Washington Fields Rd, headed southbound. They will take their first left-hand turn on 3650 South turning left on Camino Real. Runners will continue on Camino Real to Galilee Way (Black Oak Road), making a right-hand turn. Runners will continue on Galilee to Antigua Ln, making a left-hand turn. They will proceed up a short hill and make a left-hand turn on Majestic Drive. Runners will continue on Majestic Dr. to Camino Real and make a left-hand turn. Runners will make a right-hand turn on 3650 South followed by another right-hand turn back onto Washington Fields Rd headed northbound back to Staheli Family Farm.

This race distance is about 400 meters or about .25 of a mile.

 

AID STATIONS AND ON-COURSE SUPPORT

Aid Station Locations: Aid Stations will be located approx miles 3,6,9,11,12 Water, Gatorade and Gu will be available at each aid station. Port-a-potties will be available at each aid station.

PACKET PICK-UP  (1 day only!!!! )

All participants MUST check-in and pick up their shirts, swag bags, drop bags and bib numbers on Friday, January 31st 2020 between 4:00pm and 8:00pm at the Washington City Community Center. If you are not able to personally pick up your packet please make any necessary arrangements for someone else to pick it up. THERE WILL BE NO PACKET PICK-UP AVAILABLE ON FEB 1st OR AT THE HALF MARATHON START LINE. Half-marathon participants not wearing a bib number WILL NOT be allowed to ride the shuttle to the start line. DO NOT ARRIVE AT THE START LINE EXPECTING TO PICK UP YOUR BIB NUMBER! Shirt sizes tend to runner bigger than smaller ( Tec T’s), no shirt exchanges until after the marathon the Monday after the race.

HALF-MARATHON START LINE TRANSPORTATION

Participants must ride the shuttles that will be provided for the half-marathon event. Runners will be shuttled from the parking area of Staheli Family Farm to the start line. Participants can board and ride shuttles beginning at 7:30am. The last shuttle will leave Staheli Family Farm at 8:15am MUST BE ON BUS TO RACE. Please plan to board the shuttles early, seating on the last shuttle is limited

 

CLOTHING DROP

Half-marathon participants will be provided with a clothing drop bag at the packet pick up which they can use to drop items at the start line at Staheli Family Farm ( for double dare participants) which will be run up to the Half Marathon Start line the morning of the event. Participants should clearly label their bag with their bib number. Please AVOID PUTTING ANYTHING OF VALUE in these drop bags (eg. keys, cell phones, expensive clothing, etc), WCCC is not responsible for lost or missing items. Participants should deliver their drop bags to the “clothing drop volunteers” located near the start line. We do our best to collect, care for and safely transport them back to the finish line as a courtesy to our runners, but cannot guarantee the delivery of the items. IF THERE IS SOMETHING YOU REALLY WANT BACK DO NOT PUT IT IN YOUR DROP BAG!

Runners may also drop unwanted clothing at each aid station along the way. Clothing dropped will be transported to the finish line for runners to collect as we sweep the course. All Clothing drop bags will be placed in the wagon under the pavillion next to the awards stage. DO NOT DROP ANYTHING YOU CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT! (We will not sweep Course).

Any left over drop bags, clothing not dropped at an aid station or unclaimed clothing will be donated to Deseret Industries.

Participants will be able to claim their drop bags at the finish line area after the race. In order to claim a bag, participants will need to show their bib number that matches the number written on the drop bag.

 

PARKING, SPECTATORS, AND FINISH LINE EVENTS

Parking will be available for participants and spectators at Staheli Family Farm. Access to parking is only allowed from Southbound Washington Fields Rd. Drivers will make a left-hand turn into the parking area. Drivers should watch for signs directing them to the appropriate area. Please help to insure the safety of our course and finish line by limiting traffic where runners are present.

Double Dare participants are invited to the VIP area after they finish their event. For more information on this VIP area and about becoming a Double Dare participant click here.

Post-race food will be available for RACE PARTICIPANT ONLY, after they complete their race in a designated “Runner’s Only” area. Participants must show their bib to be allowed access into this area. There will be an assortment of snacks, food, drinks and more to help runner’s refuel and recover!

 

AWARDS

Overall Winners for Half will be issued for Male and Female 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

MUST BE PRESENT AT AWARDS CEREMONY, We will not mail out awards or do pick up after the event. We will not give out medals early as placements change up until the award ceremony. Top Placement winners will be taken off age category and we will go to the next 1st, 2nd, 3rd winners.

Half Marathon awards will be given in 17 different age group categories (5-9,10-15, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69,70-75,76-80 & 81 and Over).

5K awards will be given to the top male and female finishers and in 17 different age group categories (5-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69,70-75,76-80 & 71 and Over).

All finishers will receive a finisher’s medal. All Double Dog Dare Finishers will receive a Half-Marathon finisher’s medal and an additional Double Dog Dare Finishers medal (to be awarded separately at the awards ceremony). All kids in Ralph’s Run will receive a Certification of Completion.

The 5k awards ceremony will be held at 10:30am in the Staheli Family Farm pavilion, followed by the Half awards ceremony starting at 11:15am (Awards will be presented by Washington City Royalty).
