Making a Difference

Youth and adult leaders from members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints recently completed a productive Service Project at the Sullivan Virgin River Soccer Park. This group from Southern California spent several hours assisting with landscape maintenance, trail cleanliness, and painting. Washington City is grateful for their service!

A group of energetic cadets from Pine View High School Junior ROTC recently assisted with efforts to clean up the Washington City Cemetery in advance of the annual "Wreaths Across America" event. The cadets also assisted in placing marker flags on Veteran graves in preparation for the wreath laying ceremony. This group, along with other volunteers, will honor all Veterans with a short ceremony. Washington City is grateful for the spirit of volunteerism and patriotism demonstrated by these youth, as well as their dedicated leaders.

Washington City has been the recipient of the true spirit of service. We recently had a large group of volunteers from Mountain America Credit Union assist with the Washington City Cemetery beautification. This is the second major volunteer event that MACU has assisted us with. We are very grateful for their support!

Next, a group of youth and adult leaders from the Valley of Grace Church gathered along Millcreek Trail near Nisson Park for a service project that greatly enhanced the beauty and safety of our trail system.

(No Photo) Finally, local Wells Fargo employees worked diligently to assist with weeding and landscape maintenance around our Public Safety and City Office Buildings.

In each instance, these groups recognize the value of service and the impact volunteers can make within the community. Washington City appreciates the numerous volunteers that really do “make a difference” in our community. Opportunities abound to make contributions that enhance our quality of life. We welcome individuals and groups looking for service opportunities. If you want to get involved, please contact the Washington City Volunteer Manager, Karrin Hunsaker, at (435) 656-6383.
