General Race Information:


  • All participants MUST check-in and pick up their shirts, swag bags, and bib numbers on Friday, January 24th, 2025 between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm at the Washington City Community Center note: there are no bib numbers for the Kids Race.
  • If you are not able to personally pick up your packet please make any necessary arrangements for someone else to pick it up.
  • There will be NO packet pick-up available on JAN 25th or at the start line. DO NOT arrive at the start line expecting to pick up your bib number!
  • No shirt exchanges until after the marathon the Monday after the race.
  • Must register by January 1st to guarantee a shirt & medal.


Half Marathon
Race Start Time: 9am

***Cut off time will be 3 hours***



Course Description

The Dogtown Half Marathon is a scenic point-to-point course that begins just North of Coral Canyon. The starting line is located at 193 N Old Highway 91 in Hurricane. Runners will head west and make a right turn at mile 1 onto Foothills Drive, descending into the Coral Canyon subdivision and crossing under SR-9 to Coral Canyon Blvd. At mile 3.5, runners will turn right onto E. Grasslands Pkwy and at mile 4, make a right turn onto Coral Canyon Trail. Following the trail up to Highland Pkwy, runners will pass through Highland Park and continue, crossing Telegraph, and then turning right onto the Highland South Loop trail on the other side. At mile 8.7, runners will turn right on Telegraph and then take a right turn on Landfill Rd. Continuing southeast on Landfill Rd for approximately 0.7 miles, runners will turn right onto a dirt trail leading to the paved trailhead of Cottonwood Trail. From there, runners will experience a fast and steep descent to the Virgin River. Around mile 11.8, runners will turn right towards the Virgin River Boardwalk and Sullivan Park. Staying on the trail until just past the fishing pond at Sullivan Park, runners will turn right onto the grass to cross the finish line.

The majority of the Half Marathon course is on asphalt and paved running trails. There is one short area of dirt and gravel between LandFill Rd. and the Cottonwood Trail.



Aid Stations

Aid Station Locations: Aid Stations will be located at approximately miles 2,4,6,10, and 12(drinks & gu only). Port-a-potties(not at mile 12), Water, Gatorade, and Gu will be available at each aid station.  

Starting Line Transportation

Participants must ride the shuttles to the start line of the Half Marathon event. Runners will be shuttled from the parking area of Sullivan Virgin River Soccer Park to the start line. Participants can board and ride shuttles beginning at 7:30 am. The last shuttle will leave Sullivan Virgin River Soccer Park at 8:15 am participants MUST RIDE THE SHUTTLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RACE. Please plan to board the shuttles early, seating on the last shuttle is limited.

Packet Pickup

  • All participants MUST check-in and pick up their shirts, swag bags, drop bags, and bib numbers on Friday, January 24th, 2025 between 4pm and 8pm at the Washington City Community Center.
  • ***If you are not able to personally pick up your packet please make any necessary arrangements for someone else to pick it up.***
  • THERE WILL BE NO PACKET PICK-UP AVAILABLE ON JAN 25th OR AT THE HALF MARATHON START LINE. DO NOT ARRIVE AT THE START LINE EXPECTING TO PICK UP YOUR BIB NUMBER!
  • ***No shirt exchanges until after the marathon the Monday after the race.***

Clothing Drop

Half Marathon participants will be provided a clothing drop bag at the packet pick up. This bag can be used to drop items at the start line, which will then be taken to the finish line. Participants need to clearly label their bags with their bib numbers. Please AVOID PUTTING ANYTHING OF VALUE IN THESE DROP BAGS (eg. keys, cell phones, expensive clothing, etc), WCCC is not responsible for lost or missing items. Participants should deliver their drop bags to the "clothing drop volunteers" that can be found at the Half Marathon start line. We do our best to collect, care for and safely transport them to the Half Marathon start line and then back to the finish line as a courtesy to our runners, but cannot guarantee the delivery of the items

Runners may also drop unwanted clothing at each aid station along the way. Clothing dropped will be transported to the finish line for runners to collect. DO NOT DROP ANYTHING YOU CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT! Any leftover drop bags, clothing not dropped at an aid station or unclaimed clothing will be donated to Deseret Industries.

Participants will be able to claim their drop bags at the finish line area after the race. After the race, clothing drop bags can be found at Sullivan Virgin River Soccer Park and will be placed at the Fishing Pond pavilion. In order to claim a bag, participants will need to show their bib number that matches the number written on the drop bag.

Parking, Spectators, and Finish Line Events

Parking will be available for participants and spectators at Sullivan Virgin River Soccer Park. Drivers should watch for signs directing them to the appropriate area. Please help to ensure the safety of our course and finish line by limiting traffic where runners are present.

Food will be available after the race in the designated "Runners Area". After completing the race, participants must show their bib to be allowed access to this area. There will be an assortment of snacks, food, drinks, and more to help runners refuel and recover!

Race Results

Race results for current and past years will be available here. Current results will be available within 24 hours of the end of the event. We are pleased to welcome back Runner Card as our timing professionals for this event..

Awards

  • Overall Winners for the Half Marathon will be issued for Male and Female 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
  • PARTICIPANTS MUST BE PRESENT AT THE AWARDS CEREMONY
  • We will not mail out awards or allow for pick up after the event. We will not give out medals early as placements change until the award ceremony.
  • Overall winners will not place in their age category and we will go to the next 1st, 2nd, and 3rd winners.
  • Half Marathon awards will be given to 7 different age group categories. 5K awards will be given to the top male and female finishers and in 7 different age group categories (10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and Over).

Course Description

5K runners will begin and end at the picturesque Sullivan Park, with participants running along the stunning Virgin River Trail and Boardwalk. This race will follow an out-and-back course, offering runners an enjoyable experience along the river.

Kid's Race
Race Start Time: 10:30am



Course Description

Sign up your kids for the Dogtown Kids Fun Run at the park! An easy fun course for any child 12 years or younger. This run will be put on by Washington City's Youth Council and will take place at the Sullivan Virgin River Soccer Park by the Fish Pond. The kids will receive a Participation Medal and race shirt (shirt sizes come in Youth S, M, and L only). Parents are free to run with their children and don't need to sign up. The Dogtown Kids Fun Run will take place at 10:30 am. Afterward, the kids are free to play at the park and splash pad. The Kids Race is about .55 of a mile and loops around the soccer fields.
