Preschool Attendant

Closing Date: upon hire

Wage: $9.00 Hourly

GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs a variety of duties including assisting in classes and classroom management and preparation of classroom and class materials as outlined by the head teacher and preschool director. Assistant duties also include assisting with events preparation, set-up and clean-up, and any others duties required by the preschool director and/or assistant director.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Provides supervision as directed to parent volunteers if any.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

When acting as an assistant in a preschool class the assistant is responsible for supporting and aiding the head teacher with classroom management, lesson plan and curriculum implementation for that class. Assistant will follow the direction of the head teacher and will give curriculum and classroom management support where needed. Assistant will aid the head teacher in communicating all classroom and student information effectively with parents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

  1. Education and Experience:

A. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.

  1. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have an ability to work calmly and personably with young children. Position requires an ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and an ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, teachers and assistants. Must have a working knowledge of personal computers and ability to use email and the internet effectively.

  1. Work Environment:
    Performance in a typical preschool setting with appropriate climate controls. Tasks require a

variety of physical activities, lifting, reaching and carrying up to 40 pounds. Communicating,

seeing, hearing, and talking is essential to job effectiveness
