Washington Dome Feasibility Study

Washington Dome, a geological summit situated along the west side of the Southern Parkway (State Route 7), approximately between Washington Dam Road and George Washington Boulevard, is the focus of a feasibility study. Characterized by its rugged terrain, the Dome primarily consists of BLM land and offers scenic vistas of Washington City and the surrounding landscapes from its peaks. Currently, Washington Dome serves as a popular informal recreational area featuring several trails for various activities such as hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, motorbiking, and ATV riding. This existing usage highlights the Dome’s inherent value as a local resource for leisure and outdoor activities. Recognizing the potential for enhanced utilization of this natural asset, Washington City has initiated a feasibility study to gain insights into the current usage patterns of Washington Dome and develop plans for its future utilization. This includes exploring opportunities to connect Dome access points with the broader local trail network and determining the most desired amenities for the area. Community input is vital to this process. We are in the initial phase of information gathering, and the timeline for any potential improvements remains undetermined. Understanding current usage is a critical step in identifying and prioritizing future actions. Share your perspectives by participating in the survey and visiting the comment map at Washingtondome.com or email the project team at dome@washingtoncity.org. This direct feedback will play a vital role in shaping the future of Washington Dome and ensuring its continued value to the community.
