Mayor’s Message

You’re Invited To Cotton Days

Washington City Residents, It is my pleasure to invite you to our annual Cotton Days Celebration! This year we will celebrate our heritage with the theme “Strength, Sacrifice, and Spirit”. We have a week full of exciting activities planned that will allow us to reflect on our past and appreciate the hard work and dedication of our founders. One of the highlights of this year’s event is the unveiling of a life-size bronze statue of Malinda Covington on Monday, April 24th at 5:30pm in front of the Old School, on the corner of Main and Telegraph. Malinda was an instrumental figure in our community, and it is fitting that she will join the founders circle so that all can learn of her valuable contributions to the settling of Washington City. Malinda is a pioneer woman who perfectly embodies this year’s Cotton Days theme.  Throughout the week we will have a variety of events, culminating with the traditional parade and activities at Veterans Park on Saturday, April 29th. Cotton Days is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our shared history and the strength, sacrifice, and spirit of those who came before us, and those here today. I encourage you to invite your family, friends, and neighbors to join in on the fun and festivities. This is a time to embrace our community and appreciate all that it has to offer. Let us come together and make this year’s Cotton Days Celebration one to remember! Warm regards,

-Kress Staheli
