The Local Community Can Always Set The Example

Happy New Year to all of you! I hope you and your family are looking forward to a spectacular 2019 and that Washington City can do its part in making that year prosperous and bright. One of the things that I love about local government is how intimate the relationships are between the government organization and the citizens. It is local government that provides direct services and has the most interactions with each one of you. Those who are elected to serve you, as well as many of the staff, are your neighbors and friends. Because of this relationship, I think that the local community can always set the example of cooperative, civil, productive decision making, thereby, being a model to all other levels of government. During this upcoming year, an initiative will be started to improve upon our shared interactions, our cooperative spirit, and enhance the level of civility that will make us a more productive community and a model to similar organizations. We will hear more about this within the next couple of months. I look forward to working with each of you, during this upcoming year, in making Washington City a place we love to call home and a “city of choice.”
