Adopt A Waterway Program
The Adopt a Waterway Program helps clean up Southern Utah’s polluted waterways. Trash from streets washes into storm drains, leading to ponds, streams, and lakes, harming the environment and water quality. This program allows individuals and organizations to monitor and clean stream/river segments. Volunteers commit to cleaning a segment at least twice a year for two years. After their first cleanup, volunteers receive recognition on a trail sign and in promotional materials. Participants also gain a sense of accomplishment while contributing to the health of the local ecosystem. It’s a fun way to explore local streams while improving the environment, offering opportunities for community groups, businesses, and schools to get involved. For more information or to adopt a section of waterway in Washington City, contact the Stormwater Department at (435) 656-6317 or stormwater@washingtoncity.org.
