Quentin Nisson
Honoring “Mr. Washington”
Join us July 4 at 9 AM in Veterans Park for a special Welcome Home celebration and statue unveiling honoring Quentin Alexander Nisson, created by artist Jerry Anderson, in conjunction with the Lions Club 4th of July celebration. Known as “Mr. Washington,” Quentin was a beloved World War II veteran, longtime mayor from 1950 to 1964, and owner of the Merc, the “old store” on Main and Telegraph. He helped build city parks, improve streets and water systems, and started traditions like Movies in the Park and Christmas music downtown. Celebrate his legacy of service and community spirit. Bring your memories and honor a true Washington City icon.
