Celebrating Essential Services

There are many government services that we as residents are so used to that we often take them for granted. The work performed by our Solid Waste District is one of those services. How nice is it that we can put our trash can on the curb once a week and someone comes to haul our trash away? I am grateful for this service provided by the Washington County Solid Waste District which keeps our community clean and looking beautiful! We are also fortunate to have a place nearby where we can take bulk items, appliances, old furniture, yard debris, and other items that need to be discarded. The Washington County Solid Waste District has recently completed an extensive remodel and improvement project at its landfill, including new buildings and facilities to enhance safety, modernize operations, and improve accessibility for residents. This project includes a new administration building, a scale house, and other improvements designed to create a safer and more efficient traffic flow. I invite all of you to a public ribbon cutting ceremony for this new facility on Friday June 6th at 9:00am at the landfill on Landfill Road in our city.
