Need Your Help

A bronze statue has been commissioned to depict pioneer Malinda Allison Hunt Kelley Covington. This will be sculpted by artist Jerry Anderson. She will stand with the men that settled Washington, Utah’s Dixie, by the old historical museum school on Telegraph. She will represent all the women that worked and supported the men during this hard time. The Washington City Youth Council requested RAP tax money to help pay for $40,000 of the $55,000 total. A difference of $15,000 needs to be raised.  The WCYC felt that the community, clubs, and individuals should have some ownership of this beautiful piece of history. The WCYC has raised $5,400 to date. The Washington Lions Club has donated $500, JoAnn Neilson has donated $150; $9,000 still needs to be raised. If interested in donating please call or text Carmen Snow at (435) 632-4809. This was a dream of Priscilla Cahoon that put Washington City on the map with her and her husband’s book and love of our history. She has passed on, but we know she is smiling with tears of joy.
