Clear Vision For A Brighter Future: Donate Your Eyeglasses Today

Lions are known throughout the world for their work to improve the lives of the visually impaired and prevent avoidable blindness. Refractive errors can be easily corrected with eyeglasses, yet millions living in low- and middle-income countries lack access to basic eye care. Lions have recognized the urgent need for corrective lenses and, around the world, collect usable glasses in their communities to support the Lions Recycle for Sight program. Our local optical shops and eye care professionals often host eyeglass collection boxes, and the Washington City Lions Club collects those glasses, sorts, and cleans them. Last year, a member of the WCLC drove a load of collected glasses to a Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center in Arizona, where they were placed in inventory for distribution to optical missions around the world. Next time you upgrade your or a family member’s eyeglasses, ask your optical professional about donating your used but usable glasses. Or, drop your old glasses in one of the collection boxes around town and know your participation will make a difference in someone’s vision and life.
