Mayor’s Message

Old Too Soon & Wise Too Late

Another holiday season is upon us. Do you ever wonder where the time goes? I do. I hope you all had the opportunity to participate in our annual Veterans Day & Christmas In Dixie Celebrations. As usual, all the programs and activities were wonderfully arranged and enjoyed. A heartfelt thanks to all of you that put our special celebrations together. I know that our veterans sincerely appreciated the tribute to them. We all offer our debt of gratitude to our Veterans, past and present, for keeping our country safe and free. Freedom does come at a cost. Thank you. History teaches us that men and nations behave wisely when they have exhausted all other alternatives. Let’s all hope and pray that we as a people will do all we can to behave wisely. One of life’s tragedies is that we get old too soon, and wise too late. As we celebrate a season of gratitude; let us all be thankful for what we have and enjoy, not what we don’t have. As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. Join me this season and seek out the good in everything and in everybody. Goodness is about character, integrity, honesty, kindness, generosity, moral courage and the like. More than anything else; it’s about how we treat each other...... You can be that difference.
