Road Updates

One of the essential services that cities provide is a safe and connected road service. This undertaking is also costly. Currently, Washington City maintains approximately 149 miles of roads. It is estimated to cost approximately $1.7 million per mile to construct a new road (including the purchase of property). I thought I would update you on two important routes that you may have heard about. Merrill Road, this road will connect the current Merrill Road from 20 East, in the Fields, to Washington Fields road at the intersection of Lost Ridge Drive. We are currently securing the land necessary for this construction and hope to be under construction within the next six months. The total cost of this road is anticipated to be $3.5 million. Washington Parkway, This road will connect the Washington Parkway/I-15 interchange north to Green Springs Drive. Washington City just received funds to undertake this project. We will begin the environmental study shortly and hope to be under construction by Spring 2019. The total cost of this road is anticipated to be $6.5 million. These two roads are crucial links and will provide a safer, more convenient driving experience.
