Mayor’s Message

Learn More Today Than You Did Yesterday

Writing this newsletter to you this month comes the day after our annual Veteran’s Day Celebration. I always come away from that committed to being a better husband, father and neighbor.

We truly are blessed to live in such a great nation. My sincere heartfelt thanks to all of you who have served our country, and are serving to ensure we do have those freedoms. A special thanks to all of  you who spend those countless hours putting together all the events and programs. What a fantastic celebration our Veterans Day Celebration was.

I know all of you have probably heard this quote at some point in your life, “If you don’t stand for something, you will probably fall for anything.”

As I visited with some of our wonderful service men and women, my thoughts reflected upon what outstanding values, morals and ethics these fine patriots have cultivated in their lives.  All of us can learn from their examples and share them to those we love and associate with every day.  It is my belief that ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do, and what is right to do. You don’t teach morals and ethics and  empathy and kindness in the schools; you teach them in our homes, and then our children learn by example. It really isn’t hard to make good decisions when you know what your true values are.

May I end this newsletter by wishing all of you the good fortune of having all  your hopes, dreams, and ambitions become a reality in your lives.

“Your beliefs become your thoughts. Your thoughts become your words. Your words become your actions. Your actions become your habits. Your habits become your values. Your values become your destiny”  -Gandhi.

May you always strive to learn more today than you did yesterday, and lessen the suffering of others........

you will be surprised how far that gets you.

-Kenneth Neilson
