Annual Open House: Fire Safety And Alarm Awareness

The Washington City Fire Department invites you to the Annual Open House on October 12th! Join us in connecting with the community during Fire Prevention Week and learn vital fire safety tips. This year’s campaign, “Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work for You!” highlights the importance of having working smoke alarms in your home. Ensure that every level of your home, especially inside bedrooms and outside sleeping areas, is equipped with smoke alarms. Test your alarms monthly and replace the batteries at least twice a year. Consider interconnected smoke alarms for added safety. Remember to check the expiration dates on your smoke alarms and replace them every 10 years. Proper maintenance is essential for preventing fire-related emergencies. For more tips on smoke alarm maintenance and fire safety, visit nfpa.org or contact WCFD. Stay safe and prepared!
