Responsible Use of Storm Drains & Septic Systems

In an effort to protect the local environment, Washington City is reminding residents to exercise caution when using storm drains and septic systems. The city’s Stormwater Department has issued guidelines to ensure that only appropriate materials enter storm drains, while homeowners with septic systems are urged to be mindful of potential issues. Please see the city stormwater website at WashingtonCity.org/stormwater and look under the septic systems information on what is prohibited to not back up your septic tank and leach lines. Residents who observe any illicit discharge or spillage into the storm drain system are urged to report it immediately. The Stormwater Department can be reached at (435) 656-6317 during regular office hours, from Monday to Friday, 7 am to 4 pm. In case of emergencies or incidents after hours, residents should contact Dispatch at (435) 634-5730.
