Road Safety Is Important

As road traffic continues to increase in the city of Washington, ensuring safe driving habits is more important than ever. In order to protect lives and prevent accidents, Washington City Fire would like to remind everyone of some safe driving tips.

Seat Belt and Child Restraint Laws:

In Washington City, all occupants of a moving vehicle, including the driver and passengers, are required by law to wear seat belts. Children under the age of eight must be securely fastened in appropriate child restraint systems, complying with national safety standards.

Distracted Driving Laws:

To combat the dangers of distracted driving, Washington City strictly prohibits using handheld electronic devices while driving. Activities such as texting, emailing, and browsing the internet are not allowed, except in emergencies or when using hands-free devices.

DUI Laws:

Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited in Washington City. The legal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit is 0.08% for drivers aged 21 and older, and 0.02% for those under 21. Violators can face severe penalties, including fines, license suspension, and imprisonment.

As a community let’s strive to keep each other safe and help prevent vehicle accidents.
