Mayor’s Message

 Join Me Make A Difference

Sixteen years since 911. A horrific event that changed all of our lives in one way or another. Do you remember how you felt? Where were you when you heard the news? Did you gather those you love the most around you? Did you make a decision to be a better husband or wife, father or mother, friend or neighbor? To treat everyone with more respect? Just recently I was reminded of some wonderful advice from a great man that I respect very much. His name is Howard W. Hunter. May I share it with you. Hopefully you have heard this before. “This year mend a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. Dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust. Write a letter. Give a soft answer. Encourage youth. Manifest your loyalty in word and in deed. Keep a promise. Forgo a grudge. Forgive an enemy. Apologize. Try to understand. Examine your demands on others. Think first of someone else. Be kind. Be gentle. Laugh a little more (maybe a lot more). Express your gratitude. Welcome a stranger. Gladden the heart of a child. Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth. Speak your love, then speak it again.” We need a more peaceful world, growing out of more peaceful families, neighborhoods and communities. To secure and cultivate such peace, we must love others, even our enemies as well as our friends. Join me.............You are the one to make a difference.......
