Mayor’s Message

What It Means To Be A Person of Character

What a summer we are having, don’t you agree?  It’s hot out there. Please take those necessary precautions to stay safe, conserve your water use, and enjoy your family reunions; our great summer family traditions.

I have had several thoughts rattling around in my mind over the past few weeks.  They have been centered around what it means to be a person of character. I have come across several quotes that I would like to share with you.

The great basketball coach John Wooden said, “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” The goodness we find in people is about character. As we work at being kinder, more generous, honest, serving others, and making a difference in people’s lives, in essence treating others like the way we want to be treated, is a great measure of character. Where there is righteousness in the heart there is beauty in the character. When we have beauty in character there is harmony in the home. When we have harmony in the home we have order in the nation. Where there is order in the nation there is peace in the world.

If you really want to find a person’s true character………play a round of golf with them.

Enjoy the rest of your summer with those you love………………and Make a Difference to them.
