Should I Replace My Christmas Lights With LEDS?

Yes! LED lights consume 80-90% less energy than incandescent bulbs and last up to 100,000 hours, versus 3,000 hours for an incandescent. Combine this with the durable construction of LEDs and savings extend beyond electricity.  There are additional ways to reduce energy consumption each Holiday Season, combine your Christmas lights with the following to increase electricity savings:

  • Use timers to control how long your lights are on.
  • Use energy efficient lights such as LEDs or fiber optic products.
  • Consider opting for classic decorations that don’t light up like wreaths, garland, and nutcrackers.
  • Shut off interior lights and let the Christmas tree illuminate the room.
  • Safety reminder to check all light strings, and extension cords for damage and do not use it if there is any sign of wear or damage.
