 Mayor’s Message

One of the great truths of life is that the more you recognize and express gratitude for the things you have, the more things you will have to express gratitude for. And the flip side to that is the more you complain about your problems, the more problems you will have to complain about.

So perhaps we all can be more pleasant to the grouch, courteous to the rude, and generous to the needy. I believe we all understand that others can give some measure of joy, but genuine happiness comes when we do things FOR others. Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be. I for one, really enjoy being around those who are happy with themselves, who give hope to the hopeless, who love the unlovable, give friendship to the friendless, and encouragement to the discouraged.

You are the one who can truly make the best you that you can be. I hope you continue in your lives to be filled with hope, faith, compassion and gratitude; and live without anger, greed, guilt, envy, or thoughts of revenge. That we all celebrate others successes, that you have made friends with your past, are focused on the present, and optimistic about your future. Just remember that yesterday ended last night, today is a brand new day, and it’s not where you start, but where you finish that counts. Make that difference.....
