Buena Vista Widening & Reconstruction - Green Springs to Cactus

Purpose and Need

This project is recommended in the City’s latest proposed Transportation Master Plan in order to handle existing and anticipated traffic demands on Buena Vista Blvd from Green Springs Dr to Cactus Ln.

Project Description

The project includes roadway construction on Buena Vista Boulevard between Green Springs Dr and Cactus Lane including reconstruction of the existing road and widening to 5 lanes. Storm drainage improvements.

Construction Commencing: Spring 2022

Construction Completion: Summer 2022

5/4/22 Construction has started expect lane closures and delays. The estimated completion of this project is late July. The contractor will be concentrating on the North lanes first then shifting the the South lanes.

5/10/22 The contractor will be closing lanes on Buena Vista this week. There will be restrictions on left hand turning movements onto Green Spring Dr. Travel lanes will be shifting to the South and use caution when traveling through the construction zone. Contractor recommends finding an alternate route to avoid commuter delays.

5/18/22 Water and sewer lines are complete. Road base is being placed on the North half of the road. Curb and gutter will be installed on the North side of the road next week. Please drive carefully through the construction zone and expect lane shifts.

6/2/22 Curb and gutter is completed on the North side of the road. Sidewalk is being placed this morning with asphalt following on Friday. Expect lane shifts to the new asphalt so construction can continue on the South side of the road.

6/15/22 Storm Drain is complete. This finishes all of the underground utilities. Curb and gutter on the Southside is scheduled for the middle of next week with asphalt following the week after.

7/1/22 Project is complete and open to traffic with only a few small items remaining.
