Pine View Estates - Erosion Protection

Purpose and Need

In order to protect existing infrastructure, this project will place approximately 2,800 linear feet of erosion protection along the east bank of the Virgin River, in the Pine View park area. The proposed erosion protection cross section consists of a 5-foot thick section of 24-inch diameter rock rip-rap placed to the river flow line. Invasive tamarisk species will be removed and the area will receive willow plantings.

Funding

Funding for the project will be through a Pre-Disaster Mitigation (PDM) Grant issued by the State of Utah, Division of Emergency Management (DEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Additional funding will be provided by the Washington County Flood Control Authority.

Schedule

Design: Spring 2022

Construction Commencing: Sept 2022

Construction Completion: Dec 2022

Updates

7-20-22 Stockpiling will begin soon. Due to the nesting habitat of some wildlife in the Virgin River, the project can’t start until September 1st.
