A few things to keep in mind as you compare the financial data:

• Some expenditures or revenues do not track year to year. For example, there may be an expenditure for a specific item or project in the past that the city no longer uses. These expenditure categories will only be visible for the years they were used.
• It is common for citywide expenditures to exceed revenue as a result of capital projects that are funded with current year revenues as well as cash on hand.
• Prior year actuals are reported post audit which includes year end closeout transactions such as the recording of depreciation and the conversion of capital outlay from expenditures to assets.
