Lifeguard Training

The WCCC offers American Red Cross Lifeguard Training. This class is designed to teach the required skills in order to become a Certified Red Cross Lifeguard. Each participant must be at least 15-years of age by the last day of the class and complete the pretest. The pretest consists of a 200 yard swim (Freestyle, or Breaststroke), a 10-lb timed brick swim test, and a 2-min. water tread with no hands.100% attendance in class is required.

The course fee is $150 ($25 nonrefundable fee due at sign up, $125 due after pretest is passed, before final test can be taken) and includes all class materials, hands on instruction, and 2-year American Red Cross Certification for Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (upon successful completion of tests). The class has a  3-person minimum and a 10-person maximum per instructor inline with American Red Cross guidelines. Below is a list of upcoming classes:

Individuals who plan to work for WCCC may be eligible to have the remaining class fee waived.  Current starting wage is $11/hour.

Lifeguard Recertification Training

Lifeguard Recertification courses can be made by request by calling the aquatics office at 435-656-6357.  Recertification classes are $75 due at time of registration.
